Backstage tours are run at both the Palace Theatre and Cliffs Pavilion, and are available for everyone - whether you are a school, community group or simply theatre enthusiasts.
Tours are run for groups of between 10 and 30 and are tailored to suit your needs. For groups of children, a minimum of one adult is required per 10 children.
In addition to seeing backstage at the venue, participants will gain an insight into its history, and the many different departments that operate to help make Southend Theatres one of the top receiving houses for touring productions across a range of art forms.
To book a backstage tour or for more information, please contact Rachel or call 01702 390472.
Tours cost £2 per person.
The Education Forum is a network that has been set up as a way of sharing information and ideas as well as gaining feedback on the opportunities that we currently have on offer. If you are a teacher or involved in an educational group in Southend and Essex, the Educational Forum is an ideal opportunity for you to make contact and build a relationship with both Southend Theatres and your fellow professionals in the area.
If you are not currently a member of our Education Forum we would like to invite you to join us at our next meeting on:
Tuesday 30 April 2019 at 4.30pm
Admirals Room, Cliffs Pavilion, Station Road, Southend, SS0 7RA
As a signed-up member of our Education Forum you will receive two free tickets to a performance per term (performances specified by Southend Theatres) as well as exclusive information on student priced tickets, workshop opportunities and, for regular attenders, special offers on some shows.
To receive regular updates on our education work, or to attend an Education Forum, please email or telephone Rachel on 01702 390472.
Many of our touring productions have workshops and/or teacher packs linked to the shows. If you would like to find out more about what resources we have on offer please email or telephone Rachel on 01702 390472.
We can also provide performing arts workshops tailored to your needs to support some of the shows within the programme as well as making links to the curriculum where appropriate. Please email Rachel for more information or to book a workshop.
If any members of your group or class are nervous or unsure about their theatre experience, please feel free to download and use one of our visual stories. The visual stories include pictures of various areas within the theatres along with symbols and are designed to make any visit more familiar and enjoyable.
