Our work experience placements are full until Sep 2020. Southend Theatres will not be accepting any applications for work experience before this time.
Southend Theatres offer work experience placements for students from Year 10 and above, and for college and university students. If space is available then we also offer voluntary work experience to adults interested in a career change, or looking for experience in the arts.
What will I do on a placement?
Work experience takes place within all of our departments as we aim to give you an overview of how a theatre works as a whole. As a result the majority of the placement will be admin-based, so if you are interested in performing or being involved in productions, you may be disappointed as work experience with us will not involve that (we are not a producing house). The work placement will range from office-based duties within our Operations, Box Office and Marketing departments to some technical work with the stage crew.
How long is the work placement?
Placements usually last between 1-2 weeks. This can vary according to the nature of the placement and our availability.
How to apply
To apply, please send a letter or email stating why you would like to carry out your placement in the theatres to Rachel Triggs, Community and Education Manager. If you are shortlisted, you will be invited to an interview.
Southend Theatres receives a large number of applications so make sure yours stands out from the crowd!
