Stand-by scheme for 14 to 21 year olds
Would you like to come to the theatre more often? Then join STix, our new scheme exclusive to young people!
STix members are entitled to:

Focus on Youth in Theatre is an initiative to encourage young people to come to the theatre. In the past we have had storytelling with Peppa Pig, an interview with Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom from Harry Potter), workshop with the cast of Cats, backstage tours and discounts on tickets.

Our work experience placements are full until July 2019. Southend Theatres will not be accepting any applications for work experience before this time.
Southend Theatres offer work experience placements for students from Year 10 and above, and for college and university students. If space is available then we also offer voluntary work experience to adults interested in a career change, or looking for experience in the arts.
What will I do on a placement?
Work experience takes place within all of our departments as we aim to give you an overview of how a theatre works as a whole. As a result the majority of the placement will be admin-based, so if you are interested in performing or being involved in productions, you may be disappointed as work experience with us will not involve that (we are not a producing house). The work placement will range from office-based duties within our Operations, Box Office and Marketing departments to some technical work with the stage crew.
How long is the work placement?
Placements usually last between 1-2 weeks. This can vary according to the nature of the placement and our availability.
How to apply
To apply, please send a letter or email stating why you would like to carry out your placement in the theatres to Sophie Lander, Community and Education Manager. If you are shortlisted, you will be invited to an interview.
Southend Theatres receives large amounts of applications so make sure yours stands out from the crowd!
