We’re delighted to welcome the distinguished Russian orchestra, the St Petersburg Symphony, under their conductor Vladimir Altschuler to open our 2012/13 season.  The evening begins with Glinka’s colourful Russlan & Ludmilla overture.  This is followed by a performance of Prokofiev’s lyrical violin concerto, performed by the brilliant young Russian violinist Alexander Sitkovetsky.  The concert will end with a performance of Tchaikovsky’s elemental Symphony No. 5, with its haunting horn Adagio and exhilarating, powerful finale.
